My Sky

My Sky

My Sky is a simple but powerful tool that provides children, parents, and staff at Manor Lodge with a shared way of discussing emotions, thoughts, and feelings using the language of the weather. It offers children a means to express how they feel in an easy, safe, and familiar way, while also helping adults to understand and respond effectively.

“When I feel sad, I think which one am I? And sometimes my teacher asks us what we are, and I feel like I can express my feelings in front of her.”

By using the familiar concept of everyday weather: Sunny, Passing Clouds, Rain, and Storm—to represent positive to negative emotions respectively, children can describe their feelings without needing to find the perfect words. We are building a shared language that fosters understanding, connection, and essential skills across home and school.

Sunny

My Sky is designed to be used every day, facilitating daily check-ins, moments of connection, and meaningful conversations that support children’s emotional well-being.

It all starts with four simple words: “How is your Sky?”

“If I recognize that child might be having some kind of worries, I can discuss it with them using the My Sky terminology. And then we’re able to get to the crux of the problem a lot quicker, and they’re able to, understand how to articulate themselves.”
