Girls Borehamwood District Tournament

Five teams partook in this year’s Borehamwood district football tournament, which was held at Radlett Prep. During the group stage, the girls won two games, drew one and lost one. After this, we were straight into the final against Radlett Prep. The final was a very close game overall; but the final score was three – one in favour of Radlett Prep. All of the girls showed great determination, effort and commitment during all of the games. The squad demonstrated some excellent play throughout the tournament and were unlucky not to win.

Five teams also partook in this year’s Boys Borehamwood district football tournament. During the group stage, we beat Habs four – two, beat Radlett Prep one – nil along with drawing and losing one. As a result, we went straight into the final against Habs who had won three out four games at the group stage. The final was a very close game in which we won 2-0 with Beau and Zachary scoring. After winning the trophy, the boys will represent the Borehamwood District in the next regional stage.

Hertfordshire County Schools Competition

On Saturday the 4th of November, Manor Lodge under 11 football team took part in the annual English Schools county competition. We qualified for this tournament after winning our district competition a few weeks before.

The event started with the group stage of which consisted of six teams including us. In the group stage, we lost our first game, undeservedly, with the last kick of the game. After this, we went onto win our next game one nil with a promising display. In our third game, which was also very close, we lost one nil. In penultimate game, we won three – two scoring three great goals. In our last game, we were unaware but a victory would have seen us through to the final. Up until late in the second half we were leading through a suburb effort from Asa Stewart-Harris but unfortunately, we conceded through a well-taken goal.

Overall, we came third in the tournament but deserved more. The squad of Asa, Beau, Zachary, Daniel, Luca, Ollie, Kobi, Jack and Harry all did Manor Lodge proud and played some excellent football along the way. Well done!

U11 Girls County Football Finals 2017

On Saturday 28th January the U11 football team competed in the ESFA Primary 7 a side County Finals Day at Garden Fields School in St Albans.

The girls played a round robin tournament against five of the best schools in Hertfordshire.

In the first match, the girls played St Mary’s and despite having most of the possession, they lost 1-2. In the second match, Manor Lodge again kept the ball well, but they were unlucky to lose again 1-2. In their third match, they played against Almond Hill who had already won two of their matches. They were an extremely strong team and despite Manor Lodge battling well, they eventually lost 0-4.

Manor Lodge’s next match was against St Edmunds, the only other Prep School in the Finals. In this match, the girls really worked hard and there was some wonderful passing. This led to three great goals and a superb win. In the final match, Manor Lodge were unlucky not to score on several occasions and unfortunately lost again to Ickleford.

Manor Lodge eventually finished joint fifth in the competition.

It was a great morning of football, well played everyone.
