English Primary Schools Chess Association National Championships 2017
On Sunday 26th February Manor Lodge travelled to the Hall school to take part in the first stage of the ‘English Primary Schools Chess Association National Championships’. This is the largest school’s chess team event in the country with over 300 teams taking part. We took two teams to compete, an under 11 team and an under 9 team. Both teams had 6 players in.
Our zone was very strong including two of the top 8 teams in the country from last year.
It was a fantastic day for all involved and a great chance for our seasoned players to try out the latest moves they had been practicing. Both teams performed fantastically and by the end of the day our under 11 team finished in 3rd place from 8 teams and our under 9 team finished in 4th place out of 10 teams. Both teams have now qualified to the semi-final stage and we will be training hard to get ready in time for our trip to Bristol on May 13th.
We would like to make a special mention to the 12 children that took part.

Chess Tournament – 20 November 2016
On Sunday 20th November Manor Lodge School welcomed just over 100 children to compete in its annual chess competition. There was a good turn out from Manor Lodge children who ranged from year 2 to year 6, as well as players from all over London and beyond. Now in its 5th year the tournament attracted its strongest competitors yet. All 3 sections were keenly contested with over 300 games played. The best placed players now progress to the London finals to be held in December and we wish them the best of luck.
