Although English is clearly the ultimate cross-curricular subject, children are taught specific skills and concepts in ‘pure’ English lessons. English is also an integral part of all topic work and, as such, is ongoing throughout the children’s learning.
English is timetabled as a subject lesson throughout the School. Planning by the class teachers on a weekly basis is designed to ensure that all the English skills are covered.
Children are given the opportunity to work as a class, as part of a group or as individuals.
Each classroom has a fiction library and a selection of non-fiction for ongoing topic work and all classes have time in the Library each week.
