On 15 March, Year 5 visited the World War ll, Lincolnsfields Centre Museum, in Bushey. It is just like going back to 1940s war time.
They met a war veteran who had been a prisoner in Germany, visited a 1940s house with an old mangle and very strict lady who made the teachers help with her washing, as well as a ‘Dig for Britain’ garden.
‘It was such fun crawling into the Morrison shelter,’ said Della and Isabella, ‘but we wouldn’t want to stay there for very long. It must have been so frightening waiting for the bombs to land every night.’
The children seemed to appreciate how easy life is today.
