Theme Day – July 2017

On the 5th July 2017, we had a special event called ‘theme day’ where we were put into house groups (mine is Unicorns) of varying ages. Together we moved around the school and did some fun and cool activities. This year’s theme was ‘mindfulness’ which is all about being in the moment.

My favourite activity was yoga because it got me ready for sports day, which was later in the afternoon. I enjoy flexing my muscles; I felt like I was in the moment as I was concentrating hard on the yoga and ignoring any distractions. An external teacher to Manor Lodge came in and went through a few simple exercises with us. One of the yoga exercises was called ‘a tree’ and was a balancing act!

Yoga was extremely fun and also a bit of a laugh.

On Wednesday the 5th July, it was theme day. My favourite activity was mindful chocolate when we learnt how chocolate was made. Then we had a friendly test with pictures and sentences. You had to order the way chocolate was made. Then we ate a big chocolate button. Because I sucked the chocolate I still had the taste in my mouth!

On theme day I did 4 activities and they were, dream capture; yoga; safari and chocolate mindfulness. There were loads more. My favourite was yoga because it was relaxing. My worst was Safari because we didn’t see many vertebrates but I still enjoyed it.

I enjoyed Zumba moving my arms. I acted out the gingerbread man, it was hard at first.

Eleanor RP

I liked painting the rock. The rock was huge. I made a stripy pattern.

Tara RJS

I acted out the gingerbread man in yoga. I really enjoyed it.

This morning, Phoenix enjoyed calming yoga as our first activity. We all stretched our arms and legs trying to complete the difficult and challenging poses. Our next activity was musical mindfulness. We sat in a circle and sand a song to a backing track. When we were confident that we knew the words, we split into three different parts.

After break, we made tricky origami. The dog was our favourite.

Painting the stones for the garden made us think out-of-the-box. That morning was very fun and we all enjoyed the wonderful experience.

Theme day was lots of fun! My favourite activity was yoga because it was very peaceful. It was also fun to hang out with friends, not just with family members like brothers, sisters etc.

In theme day, Griffins did yoga, chocolate mindfulness, dream catchers and mini beast safari. My favourite activity was chocolate mindfulness because it was amazing to know how far this single drop of chocolate has travelled.

We had a wonderful theme day. I completed ‘safari’ searching for animals; making wind chimes (dream catchers); chocolate mindfulness (yum!); Yoga. Other activities included Origami (I would love to do it); meditation (pebbles); Japanese garden; sports

I enjoyed ‘giant doodle’. This was when we watched a video and then drew on a giant piece of paper like Tom Gates
