On Wednesday 1st March, Manor Lodge competed in the Belmont Prep Schools annual ‘Oti’ cross country relay race. The event was a six person relay race around an ‘Oti’ course (which was named in memory of Sylvester Oti, a boy who went to the school, but sadly passed away at 12 years old), which was approximately 1400m through woodland. Each runner was timed over the course and then this was documented, resulting in an individual time for each participant and eventually an overall time for the team.
This was the second time that Manor Lodge had competed in this event and the boys and girls were keen to perform as well as they had done last year.
The girl’s team, which consisted of Sofia Sartori (6E), Yasna Malick (6C), Grace Dersookiasian (5S) Cleo Andrea (5S), Katerina Kenny (5C) and Darcie Hambury (5E), performed brilliantly on the day and produced some wonderful running to eventually finished sixth out of eleven teams. Congratulations to Sofia Sartori (6E), who was the fastest runner for the second year in a row.
In the boy’s competition, Kameron Lall made a wonderful start, recording the fastest time in the team. This was followed by excellent running by Sam Piler (6C), Asa Stewart-Harris (5C), Oliver Segal (Phoenix), Toluwani Ayetan (6E) and Barney Amess (6E). The boys eventually finished sixth out of thirteen teams. This is a great results against some very tough opposition.
Well done to everyone that took part.
