This week we have been ‘through’ the Amazon. We turned our adventure area into a tribal community by making a den and the Amazon River. We used the gutters and the hose pipe to make the Amazon river, some of us got a bit muddy and wet! To help with our pencil control we have made the Amazon river out of a variety of resources and textures. In our role play area we had masks so we could pretend to be animals in the rain forest. We also made up our own ‘misfit’ animals and thought of a name for them, maybe some of them exist and are undiscovered! We discovered what the different layers of the rainforest are and chose an animal to put into the correct area. We used the natural materials to build our own rainforest settlement using the small world toys as the tribe and adding in the animals! We had an Amazon river in the class room and blindfolded one of us. The rest of the class had to give clear positional instructions to get our friend to the other end safely-avoiding the dangerous river animals. We have had so many exciting messy activities this week outdoor and in, we can’t wait to go ‘under’ the sea, through tunnels and caves next week.
