Year 3 had a great, rain free, educational day out at Annables Farm School in Harpenden on Wednesday 8th June. We were given a tour of the farm in a tractor and trailer where we saw corn crops growing and even Jersey cows being milked! We were also treated to a bee keeping activity where we saw bees in an open hive. We handled corn crops grown on the farm which included barley, wheat, oats, rape seed and peas. The children really loved making their own bread dough, using ingredients from the farm, which was then baked and eaten at home. The children even churned milk from the Jersey cows to make butter! The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and learnt a lot about where our food comes from and how a farm works.
