U11 Borehamwood Girls Football Tournament 2015
On the 6th October the U11 A football team took part in the U11 Borehamwood Girls football tournament. Four teams took part in the tournament. In the first match Manor Lodge played against Monksmead and won 5-0. The second match was against Radlett Prep and despite a slow start they drew 2-2. The final pool match was against Habs and in the first half the girls performance dipped and unfortunately they went 0-4 down. However, in the second half they battled hard and scored, but sadly they lost the match.
Manor Lodge were then drawn against Radlett in the semi-final play-off. The girls made a confident start having a number of chances in the first half. However just before the half time whistle, Radlett scored. This did not deter the team though and they came back strongly bringing the score back to 1-1, Radlett Prep scored a second, but again the girls came back to equalise. It finished 2-2 and it came down penalties. Lisa Carrington made some fantastic saves during the tournament and her quick reactions were called upon during the penalty shootout. It came down to the third penalty and the Radlett Prep player took it brilliantly to score and reach the final.
Manor Lodge were therefore in the third and fourth play-off against Monksmead. The girl’s worked so hard and again played strongly to win 2-0, so they eventually came third overall.
Jamie Levene played superbly and scored 7 out of 9 goals, along with goals from Rebecca Underhill and Izzy Ardeman. Overall, it was a tremendous team performance, with each and every girl playing with determination and courage.
