World Languages Day 2009

On Friday, 2nd October, Manor Lodge celebrated World Languages Day. The day began with each Year Group singing a numbers song in several different languages followed by a very patriotic assembly on Wales in Welsh by 4W. The class also performed a traditional Welsh dance and a video was shown of a Welsh school in South Wales who demonstrated a typical Welsh school day. 4W also exchanged e-mails and videos with the school later that day.

The rest of the school enjoyed immersing themselves in the culture and language of many different countries from around the world such as China, Pakistan, South Africa and Holland, to name but a few.

With a special “Welsh” lunch offering a variety of delicious dishes, it was a fun day enjoyed by all, broadening our knowledge of the many different cultures and languages around the world.
