Indian Dance and Drumming Workshop
Pupils at Manor Lodge experienced a taste of India on Friday 11 September, with an exciting dance and drumming workshop and a stunning array of Indian food for lunch.
The children were taught to play banghra rhythms on the Indian drums, following patterns of 8 counts. The dance workshops were based on traditional classical Indian dance with some features of Bollywood style dancing; hand movements and dance steps were combined and the children then joined the patterns together to perform a dance to Indian music.
It has become a tradition at Manor Lodge to start the year with a musical workshop day; recent visits have involved African dance and drumming, Balinese Gamelan music and Caribbean music with steel pans.
