Reception visit to Woburn Safari Park

On 13 October, we visited Woburn Safari Park, where the weather was kind and we all had a wonderful time.

See the little monkeys – and the animals look good too!

The chicks are here - and there - and over there

In the Spring term we learned about growth, and the life cycle of butterflies and chicks. On 30 June we visited the Bedford Butterfly House to find out about butterflies, and we have also been concentrating on chicks..and eggs.

Living Eggs commenced in 1995 in Australia and is now available in the UK, giving children the opportunity to experience the miracle of life first hand. We received our eggs, placed them in the incubators and waited (and waited) for something to happen.

The video you can watch here consists of photographs taken with ultra-violet light using time-lapse photography. This means that the photographs were taken at regular intervals over several hours, and especially at night. You can imagine how thrilled we were when we came into school one morning to see the chicks had hatched overnight! And by the way, time-lapse photography means that images are scrunched up one after the other – so the chicks were not really as manic as they appear, and no chicks were hurt in any way.

Oh yes – we had fun

This is the video of our play ‘A Wiggly Nativity’ – but do remember it is nearly 29 minutes long!
