The Infant Department

The Infant Department welcomes children from many different nursery schools. It has its own Head of Department and benefits from specialist teachers.

The daily programme is carefully structured to build enthusiasm for future learning. A full academic timetable is taught with reference to the national curriculum. This is enhanced by French, Music, Drama, ICT and Dance – all taught by specialist teachers.

In addition to the teaching staff, we have a full complement of Classroom Assistants who provide support and attention for every child. From the beginning we seek to develop high standards of literacy, numeracy and behaviour in all children.

The extensive gardens provide plenty of attractive space for the children to play outside. The Reception year has its own playground and all playtimes are supervised by our own staff.

Almost all children move from the Infant to Junior Department at the age of seven. However, some children sit for competitive entry to other schools at this stage and we help them prepare for these tests.
