Appointment of New Head

The appointment of Tim Owen as the next Head of the School from September 2010 has been announced by the Governors.

Tim is a very experienced teacher having been Head of Berkhampstead School in Cheltenham for the past 12 years and a school inspector for eight years.

Berkhampstead School is similar to Manor Lodge in that it teaches both boys and girls from the ages of 3 to 11 and hence Tim is used to secondary transfers at age 11.

His contribution to Berkhampstead has been significant. To quote one of his referees, “Tim Owen made a major difference to the school from the moment he arrived in September 1996 and from then on pupil numbers have increased and the academic and sporting successes are now second to none in Cheltenham”.

He continues to enjoy teaching – maths and geography are his classroom subjects – and he is qualified to coach over 10 sports. He is pictured below with his U9 rugby team.

Tim will bring with him the drive and enthusiasm necessary to take the School forward over the coming years and to continue the outstanding work carried out by Mrs Judith Smart during her time as Head.

The School will be organising opportunities for the staff, parents and children to meet Tim before he starts in September. We hope you will give him a very warm Manor Lodge welcome.
